Access to documents in the Israel State Archives is provided in line with the rules and regulations governing the reading of material deposited in the Archives. The process of declassification focuses first and foremost on record groups containing classified or sensitive documents in the field of defence and foreign affairs. Archival documents from government agencies or local authorities which are of low sensitivity are routinely disclosed to the public at the end of the period prescribed in the regulations.
