Foreign Minister Golda Meir has told the Greek charge d'affaires ad interim Antoine Coundakis that Israel will not make any announcement about Sasson's illness. If the cancellation of the visit is publicised, Israel will make it clear that the cancellation of the visit was the result of Greek capitulation to Arab pressure.

In a conversation between the deputy prime minister of Israel, Abba Eban, and the Greek foreign minister, Stavros Costoupolos, Eban stated that Israel is in favour of solving all disputes by peaceful means. Costopulos said that Greece is trying to prevent the use of force to solve the Cyprus problem. Parliamentary considerations at the U.N. are preventing the regulation of Israel-Greek relations.

Greek Foreign Minister Pavlos Economou-Gouras told Shai that he rejoiced in the "magnificent victory" of the IDF in the Six Day War and would do everything possible to help Israel, although, because of Greece's special interests in the Arab world, he could not adopt the line he wanted in public "for the moment".

The minister for economic co-ordination and one of the leaders of the Greek military junta, Nicolaos Makarezos, promised Shai that he would try to bring about the regulation of relations between the two countries, although the subject was under the jurisdiction of the foreign minister, Economou-Gouras.

The deputy speaker of the Knesset, Yitzhak Navon, who visited Athens on a mission to explain Israeli policy in preparation for the twenty-second session of the U.N. General Assembly, met with the Greek prime minister, Constantine Kollias, and the foreign minister, Pavlos Economou-Gouras. He urged Greece to support Israel's opposition to the demand for withdrawal from all the territories occupied during the Six Day War and emphasised the common interests of the two countries in opposing the spread of Soviet influence. The Greeks leaders explained the nature of Greece's ties with the Arab states and the prime minister asked Israel to bring about an improvement in the attitude of the Western press towards the Greek regime. Navon replied that support for Israel might improve Greece's relations with the press.
